1. Manas International Airport.

To get local currency - Som - you can use exchange offices and bank branches on the first floor of Airport Manas. You will need Som to pay for GSM SIM card and to pay for taxi or "marshrutka".

If you need to call during your travel in Kyrgyzstan you can buy a local GSM Sim . You can charge units to your sim according to your needs; either in a public automat (in shops and public places in Bishkek) or in a kiosk in any town or village. There are 3 major telecom providers with nationwide coverage - O, MegaCom and Beeline - (except remote mountain areas far from roads or villages). The country code is +996 (city/area/mobile network code) (phone number).

International Airport Manas is situated in 40 minutes by car from the capital of Kyrgyzstan - Bishkek city. The best way to get from Airport Manas to Bishek is to take a taxi. Approximate price is 1000 som. You should take a service of official taxi only (they have a special label on the roof). Private taxi can be more expensive.

2. Bishkek. Hotels and hostels.

If you still do not have any ideas about hotel or hostel in Bishkek, we will recommend you some hostels which is situated not far from our office: "Tunduk" hostel - (5-10 minutes from our office), "Green Hostel" - not far from our office. Anyway please find and book hotel of hostel before arriving in Kyrgyzstan. You can also see our "Accommodation page".

4. Money and payment.

We get only cash. You can pay in Euro, Dollars or Som. There are some important nuances concerning money. It is not easy (almost impossible) to change small nominal of Euro and Dollar, or crumpled notes. That is why we get not less then 50 or 100 Euro or Dollars and not crumpled notes.

5. Bikes and equipment.

Pay your attention that besides bikes rental you can purchase some equipment: maps, gas tanks, bottles. And you can also rent some additional equipment such as gas burner, cookset, rear rack bags and etc. Information about bikes and equipment.

6. Weather.

But we have some words to say: please take warm clothes in case of rain and even snow. Don't forget to take sun cream. There can be a great difference in temperature in summer in Kyrgyzstan.

Our recommendation about drinks. Pay your attention: buy alcohol drinks only in big markets or in Gas station shops such as "Bishkek Petroleum" or  "Gasprom". Do not buy alcohol in small shops. It may be dangerous.
