The VI World Nomad Games (WNG) in 2026 will mark a triumphant return to their homeland — Kyrgyzstan. For the first time, the organizers have split the main events between the capital and the resort region:
- Bishkek, 31 August: For the first time, the Opening Ceremony will take place in the new modern Azattyk Arena. This shift toward the capital’s infrastructure will draw broad public attention.
- Issyk-Kul (Cholpon-Ata and Kyrchyn), 2–6 September: The main competitions and the ethno-cultural festival will be held in the Issyk-Kul region.
- Cholpon-Ata (Hippodrome): A traditional venue for equestrian events (kok-boru, horse races) on the shore of the famous lake.
- Kyrchyn Gorge: Will transform into a large-scale ethno-town called the “Universe of the Nomad” — the cultural heart of the Games.
- Issyk-Kul, 6 September: The Closing Ceremony will be held on the scenic lakeshore, highlighting Kyrgyzstan’s natural beauty.
Sports Program: Dozens of Ethnic Disciplines
The sports program (2–5 September) focuses on preserving and promoting traditional sports of nomadic peoples.

- Crafts & Masterclasses: Fairs of felt crafts (shyrdak, ala kiiz), woodcarving, and jewelry. Guests can learn how to set up a yurt or make musical instruments.
- Gastronomy: Ethno-food zones with tastings of beshbarmak, kumis, kurut, and cooking contests by oshpoz (masters of pilaf).
- Modern Extreme: The “Ethnomoto” festival is expected, combining traditional horse stunts with modern motorcycle shows.
